Friday (Cont'd): After a full day of volleyball and other activities, we retires to the indoor main lounge where we met Garrith and Brian, two dudes from Wales. We were friends almost instantly. After dinner, we felt like exploring and took a cab downtown. After wandering about, we stopped at an outdoor bar on the beach and enjoyed the sounds of an acoustic guitar player/singer. We then walked into an outdoor dance show, which was $7 per person all you can drink. After I discovered that they had 12 year old Canadian Club whiskey, I felt at home. The show featured a complete 10 piece band, with many dancers and singers in front of them. Of course, at the end of the show I ended up onstage.
Saturday: We got up for breakfast, wandered around for awhile, and met up with the dudes from Wales at the beachfront lunch area for some burgers. Lounged around all day, for Ray got his first cold of the winter. Of course it had to occur during our trip. At night, Ray retired to the room and I went down to the lounge to find some action. There I ran into Garrith, who was hanging around with a brother and sister from Toronto, Steve and Debbie. Those three ended up taking me to the Havana Club for the first time, which was a complete mess for all of us. The place was completely packed, since it is $10 all inclusive there all night long. We ended up dancing the night away. Upon arrival back to the resort, Garrith and I staggered to La Rumba, where we made our appearance and quickly went to bed. Sunday: Ray enjoyed sitting at the poolside and hanging out in the hot tub while I slept until 1:30 in the afternoon! I then was coaxed into leaving the cool confines of the room to join the crowd at the poolside, where I found a nice shady place to lay and suffer. |
